HEMIGRAMUS OCELIFER
(fam. Characidae)

Natural biotope of the northern South America caracid is being spread in the waters and tributaries, the Amazon and Orinoco rivers and in those in Guyana.
Fish is a lively, constantly moving, living in groups or banks, easy to grow and very productive.
Reach a length of 4.5-6cm. Has a body much flattened on the side, fusiform, which ends with a strong tail, forked into two lobes rather long, features a good swimmer.
Predominant color is yellow-gray. Back of neck right up to the area above the tail and anal fin are gray. All fins are colorless, with light blue tops. Upper lobe of the tail is reddish as the top portion of the iris.
Characteristic of this fish is present in the tail of two small red spots and another, hemmed in gold, behind operculelor.
Sexual dimorphism is not very clear. As a rule, the top dorsal fin is more pointed in male, and the body is lean, the female is more voluminous. Another criterion for differentiation of the sexes would have the gall fins, which the male is more visible when looking at fish in transparency, the female which is partially visible. She needs middle-large pools, many clumps of plants planted in the back of the box to provide a bigger space for swimming in fourth front, to the viewer.
The basin will be planted with: Cabomba; Myriophilum, Elodea, Heterandria, Ludwig, Vallisneria.
The substrate must contain well-washed sand, with an average grain size of 3mm, the missing stone to "hard" (limestone, lime).
Preferred water is normal, well filtered and aerated, with an average hardness DGH = 5.8 , neutral pH 6-7,5, having a temperature of 22-24  C to 20  C. The minimum
It is an omnivorous fish that prefer live food but can accept and that dry-type granules with vitamins.
Reproduction: It is generally easier if you use a pool of 20-25 liters, without substrate, where we put a few pots with plants (indicated above). Bottom of the aquarium will be protected by a mesh framework for parents to keep the eggs.
Water temperature is normal with a cost of 25-26  C.
Breeding pair is introduced into the pool tonight for an accommodation as soon as the new environment.
After filing, the parents will be moved back into the aquarium together. Eggs (about 400) and young fish are sensitive to sunlight, therefore the vessel walls will be covered with paper.
Fry hatch after 24-30 hours and remains as larvae 3-4 days, standing hanging plant or window box. Once they begin to swim freely must be fed with boiled egg yolk or microviermi following as a week to go in nauplii of Artemia salina and Daphnia.
Chicks grow very quickly, reaching sexual maturity at age 6-7 months.
It is a gregarious fish that can be grown along with many other exotic species that require the same quality and water temperature

HEMIGRAMUS CAUDOVITTATUS
(fam. Characidae)

Originally from South America, it is widespread in the waters of Argentina and the Rio de la Plata river.
Broadly speaking, body shape is similar to that of his cousin previously. Sides are colored in gray open, being crossed by a blue stripe with iridescent reddish operculelor starts in right and becomes more pronounced by the tail, which ends in form of spear. Abdominal fins, anal and codală are pink-red and the back is colorless and has a red spot or white to the top of it. Top of the iris is colored in red.
The male is more slender than the female, getting a more pronounced color reproduction period. Length of adult fish is 6 cm but may reach 7-8 cm in some cases.
Requires a relatively large space for swimming pools feeling well at least 50 cm long, which can quickly sprint from one corner to another in the aquarium. For this reason planting plants and putting the decorations will be in the back of the box, they occupying more than 30  of the area's.
Featured plants include: Vallisneria, Ludwig, Elodea, Heterandria; Cabomba; Myriophillum.
Water quality within the limits of the grave: DGH = 5.8  and pH 6-8, but it will take well filtered and aerated continuously with weekly exchanges of water (25  of volume) to remove nitrites.
Optimum temperature is 20-24  C with a minimum of 16  C.
As food we can offer any type of food, live or dried. The menu will add a surplus crop.
Reproduction: It's easy, is identical to that described above Hemigramus Ocelifer species. . Number of 300-400 eggs, hatch in 50-60 hours, following the young fish remain hanging plants and window still 3 days. Chicks grow very quickly if they have live feed.
It is a peaceful fish that may be associated with many exotic species.

NEMATOBRYCON PALMER
(fam. Characidae)

Tetra Emperor (Emperor) comes from South America (Colombia), Rio San Juan river waters and its tributaries.
The front of the fish, once mature, it is rounded, having the appearance of a Base-Ball bats.
Predominant color is brown. In the lower body, below the median, has a wide purple stripe outlined deleted, which starts and ends in the eyes of the middle radiator fin coda. The fins are yellow to brown noanţă hemmed with a darker, to brown, except anal which outline is blue or colorless. Dorsal is narrow ruby color. Iris radiating to brilliant blue or black
Sexual dimorphism is difficult to observe the youth, adults difference is clear. Male size (6-7cm) is clearly superior to the female (4-5 cm), it also benefiting from a more vivid color, more pronounced in the reproductive period. Dorsal and radial medium are extended to the male's tail while the female they are slightly rounded.
It is a fish that exhibit territorial behavior, for that reason, the basin volume must be quite high, over 50 liters.
Recommended plants are Cabomba, Myriophillum, Elodea, Heterandria, Ludwig; Valisneria.
Require soft water with hardness of 5-7  DGH and slightly acidic pH = 6-7. Optimum temperature is 23-26  C and minimum 20  C.

Players: We use a middle basin, 25-30 liters, filled with soft water for 4-6 , slightly acidic pH 6-7, well filtered and aerated at a temperature of 25-26  C.
In this basin so prepared, breeding pair will make about 200-300 eggs, glued in bundles of leaves of plants (Myriophyllum, Chara, Nitella) or directly on the substrate.
It was noted that the first two hours of the submission of water chemistry is not important, it can be done in any type of water, then support will be moved together with the eggs in a bowl of water recommended. If the application was held on the surface of the substrate, harvesting eggs can be (carefully) using a pipette.
The greatest difficulty in reproduction is not given water quality or size of the basin, but finding a compatible pair agrees to make together. Therefore we seek to choose and separate the pair who started the game only Suite in common aquarium.
Larvae hatch after 25-30 hours and begin active swimming at age 5 days, at which offspring will receive the first food naupli (larvae of other crustaceans: Daphnia, Cyclops, etc.).

RASBORA HETEROMORPHA
(fam. Cyprinidae)

This beautiful and small fish only 4-4,5 cm originates in Sumatra and the peninsula Malak, being particularly species of Rasbora rest by its more round body shape and high. Basic color is pink, from which the middle area to the root of the tail, is a black spot with iridescent purple, triangular-shaped, that sharpens to codală fin. The female silhouette in front of this spot is unclear, removed, while the male is well defined by abdomen. In both sexes fins are transparent, with a slight tinge of color to pink-red.
Fish is a peaceful, active, lively, living in groups, preferring areas of middle and surface water.
Aquarium growth, as the reproduction, should be well planted, it is recommended only Cryptocoryne species, with a substrate of river sand, good washing. Is used as decoration for the tree root (the tannins and air released by boiling in salted water and kept 2-3 weeks in water changed daily).
Requires a soft water (DGH = 6-8 ), slightly acidic (pH = 6,5-6,8), at a temperature of 23-25  C (19  C minimum).
Reproduction: be problematic because of the hardness of water quality which must be 4-6  pH 6,2-6,4.
Temperature should be constant at around 26  C.
They managed their reproduction and a medium hardness water but then DGH = 7.8  Hatching embryo development and have given the best results, a large number of chickens being viable.
Difficult is the choice of breeding pair, which is appropriate to make the fish that have started joint Suite in aquarium.
Breeding pool may be 20 liters, the bottom that sit in pots or plant Cryptocoryne bushes 2.3.
Before the introduction of breeding pair, water tank and filter will be strong aera to remove existing infuzuri or chlorine in it. After 2 days is introduced and the pair of fish.
Position during the presentation, unlike other species of Rasbora, is with the belly up under a leaf, where the female deposited about 80-120 eggs, which are immediately fertilized by the male. After filing, breeding pair off immediately in the tank and the water column will decrease to 10-20 cm. Hatching embryo occurs at 25-30 hours after submission eggs, the water had a constant temperature of 27  C.
Chicks begin to swim free after 4-5 days, they are very small and transparent. Eggs and young fish are very sensitive to light too strong, therefore it is appropriate that she be absent until the age of 5-6 days.
Feeding is done by infusion or egg yolk (hard boiled).
Exchange of water must be made increasingly more often to get used to a normal water, the average hardness and neutral acidity.
